Punctuality by Alaina Alexander

The door slammed in my face and I heard the unmistakable sound of the lock catching. The wall clock above read 8:00 am. My music theory class was starting and I was going to have to get the notes from one of my classmates. The professor had a simple adage when it came to punctuality: If you are one time, then you are late. Being late meant that you were locked out and it was marked down as an unexcused absence.
Two slamming doors later, I got the message and my rate of punctuality greatly improved.
Sometimes, gigs and bookings are made lost based on something as arbitrary as punctuality.
Now, I make it a habit to be at least ten minutes early to interviews and meetings. My music theory professor would be proud!
