Take your time

Congratulations, you made it to the big city. You managed to land a decent gig and an apartment in a relatively quiet neighborhood. Your first instinct is to rush out and fill your new dwelling with new furniture and other household items. However, you’re still struggling financially and will continue to do so for the next few months.

Here are some tips for saving money on furnishings:

1. Take inventory of the things that you already have in your possession.
2. Make a list of the items that you absolutely need.
3. Brainstorm a “wish list” of items that you want.
4. Thoroughly research items before you purchase them
5. Check out thrift stores, garage sales and discount outlets.
