New Makin' Rent Project Update

Currently, we are researching and testing recipes for the cookbook version of Makinrent.com. (Hence our latest book review http://makinrentreading.blogspot.com) Over the next few months we will be posting more recipes and food essays on this blog.


It’s difficult to pursue your artistic endeavors when you are scrounging up change to pay for groceries!

Here are some suggestions for making you quest for low-cost nutritious meals easier:

Make a List
Make a list of all of your favorite foods, foods you hate and foods that you have always wanted to try.

Recipes
Write your recipes in a small spiral notebook or on lined note cards.

Tune into cooking shows
You can get great ideas and tips from watching cooking shows. There are numerous celebrity cooking shows on both cable and public television channels.

Surf the Internet for cooking websites
Both of these websites are great for simple low-cost recipe ideas www.deliaonline.com and www.splendidtable.org


Read books on food writing
Ruth Reichel, Peter Mayle and the late Laurie Colwin are great reads for any beginning foodie.
