Over-scheduling

How many times in the past few months have you scheduled yourself within an inch of your life?
It starts out innocently enough... You just want to expand your horizons so you start taking a couple of classes. Perhaps, money is a little tight and you take on a second gig to pay off some bills.
Things are hectic for the first few weeks, but slowly you settle into a workable routine.
Then unexpectedly, you experience a couple of days off. You call your friends to arrange a few outings and you find that everyone is either completely booked up or they only have ten minutes to spare for a few sips of coffee.

Where is the balance? Hard work and ambition are great, but what happens to our souls when we are constantly on the move 24/7? Is all of this jostling from place to place detrimental to our creativity? More importantly what happens to our humanity when we begin to view spending time with friends and family as a necessary evil?

There's also an air of self-importance that comes from having a supremely booked up calendar.
Look how important I am!
There are so many people and activites are clamoring for my time...

So, which will you ultimately choose...

Self-importance or Humanity?
