The Pitfalls of Frugality: Sales Mania

We know what your thinking. How can there possibly be any pitfalls associated with frugality? Relax there aren't that many, but they do exist and sometimes overzealous frugality can end friendships and yes even cause injury or worse!
Below is a common scenario from the darkside of frugality:
You have $40 to spend to update your wardrobe. You decide to head down to the local discount clothing store, because they are having a huge sale. Since, it's winter time you decide to put your wardrobe stipend towards buying long-sleeved shirts. Instinctively, you head towards the damaged returns/ clearance rack.
Bad Option #1: Going to the damaged returns/clearance rack and making selections based solely on price without stopping to closely exam the clothing items.
Better Option #1: Carefully examining the clothing for damage before buying it.
Better Option #2: Check out the regularly priced items, before you go to the clearance rack and compare the differences in the material. cut and cleaning instructions.
